Brian attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned degrees in Arabic & Economics. During his time at West Point, he spent a semester abroad in Morocco and trained in Egypt and Korea. He was a member of the Boxing Team, Honor Committee, and graduated in the top 15% of his class.
Commissioned as an Officer into the Military Intelligence branch, Brian served more than 5 years on Active Duty. His service included a deployment to Eastern Afghanistan to conduct night raids in 2010-2011, selection for and completion of specialized Human Intelligence training, and service as a Senior Intelligence Officer in the 82nd Airborne Division before transitioning to the Army Reserves. At present, Brian continues his weekend service in the Reserves as a Major supporting operations in the Middle East.
After scoring the top 1% globally for the MBA entrance exam, the GMAT, he transitioned from the Army and applied to Harvard Business School. His application essay focused on his aspirations of owning and investing in multiple small businesses.
Brian focused his time at Harvard on finance, especially courses on running small business operations and Entrepreneurship through Acquisition (EtA) – the premier MBA course on buying and operating small businesses.
In the years following Harvard, Brian spent time working at a middle-market Investment Banking in Chicago and a Private Equity fund that finances Search Funds to acquire and operate businesses. With the Private Equity fund’s support, Brian acquired and became the CEO of an industrial services company, working long hours to professionalize and rapidly grow. He was – and remains – a hands-on leader who takes an interest in all elements of the businesses he manages, working in the field with both his team and customers, and implementing technology and operating procedures to scale the business.
In early 2021, Brian exited the industrial services sector and invested in Blue.cloud shortly after the company was founded. He moved to Tampa and became the CFO. The company experienced explosive growth, and Brian led the investment process with a NY-based Private Equity fund, valuing the company in excess of $100 million in 2022. For this work, he was awarded the 2022 CFO of the Year in Tampa. Brian remains an investor in Blue.cloud, but finally transitioned to running his own company full-time: CFO Worx.
